Opening ceremony of "Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2022—HEF 2022"
(Thanhuytphcm.vn) – "Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2022—HEF 2022" with the theme "Digital economy: drivers of growth and development of Ho Chi Minh City in the future," organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, opened on the morning of April 15. Attending the opening ceremony were Politburo members, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.
The leaders of Ho Chi Minh City were attended by Politburo Member, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van So; Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le; and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to Thi Bich Chau City.
The program was attended by 29 international experts, 16 domestic experts, international financial organizations and institutions, agencies, and business associations; more than 900 delegates attended in person and more than 100 delegates online.
Speaking to welcome the opening session of HEF 2022, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Should emphasized that this is an important annual event organized by the City People's Committee in order to receive the opinions of domestic and foreign experts, scientists, and entrepreneurs in the development fields of Ho Chi Minh City.
The secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, gave an opening speech to welcome the forum.
According to Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, the 11th City Party Congress set a goal that by 2025, the digital economy would account for 25% of the GRDP. By 2030, it will become a modern service and industrial city, a city of culture, a leader of the digital economy and digital society, and an economic, financial, commercial, scientific, and technological center of Southeast Asia; the digital economy accounts for 40% of the GRDP.
In order to achieve the above goal, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that Ho Chi Minh City has developed an action plan, determined to implement the digital transformation program; set a goal to soon bring the City Institute of Advanced Technology and Innovation, the Consulting Center to support effective digital transformation; implement the smart city construction project (phase 2) and cooperate with domestic and foreign universities and research institutes to promote projects to develop smart education, smart health, artificial intelligence application research and development programs; determined to quickly form a comprehensive ecosystem for the development of the city's digital economy.
However, in the first year of this term, Ho Chi Minh City had to overcome an unprecedented event in history. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many socio-economic activities, but also from this environment, in response to the pandemic, the digital transformation environment has the opportunity to develop strongly in many fields. Many businesses and localities use digital technology to prevent and minimize the impact of the pandemic.

“In that spirit, today's Digital Economy Forum is important for Ho Chi Minh City. We ask the market to listen to all the opinions of experts, first of all the opinions of leaders, domestic and foreign entrepreneurs, and international organizations, in order to seek the model of creating mechanisms and policies to promote digital transformation and strong digital economy development, meeting the requirements of building and developing Ho Chi Minh City in the immediate and long-term." HEF 2022 took place in one day on April 15, revolving around four main topics: "The general picture of digital transformation in enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City: vision and aspiration to 2030"; "Designing appropriate policies for digital economic development in Ho Chi Minh City: orientation 2025 and vision 2030"; "Digital transformation to improve the competitiveness of enterprises: challenges and solutions"; and "Digital transformation in enterprises: experiences and success lessons of domestic and international enterprises."
HEF 2022 is an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City leaders to exchange and discuss with experts, scientists, organizations, and domestic and foreign enterprises about digital transformation and digital economy in order to unify and raise awareness about digital transformation and digital economy; seek possible solutions to promote digital economy development in the city, help city enterprises promote creativity, increase access to new business models to improve productivity and efficiency; at the same time, create opportunities for individuals and organizations to propose recommendations on the policy framework to encourage and manage digital economy development; promote the role of stakeholders in the digital/economic ecosystem, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city.
