Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dinh Minh Hiep, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in recent years, Ho Chi Minh City has always focused on supporting enterprises and cooperatives to promote production, trade, and consumption of OCOP products and agricultural products through fairs, exhibitions, weeks, farmers' markets, networking conferences, investment cooperation, production, and business, thus helping units promote and introduce products directly to consumers.

Trade promotion activities also create opportunities for agricultural product production and trading units and enterprises to meet, exchange, and connect to find partners, sign trade deals, and consume products.

According to Mr. Hiep, in 2022, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, purchasing power will not increase. The Fair-Exhibition 2022 attracted more than 15,000 visitors to visit and shop; estimated revenue was nearly 2.1 billion VND, and there were 30 consumption contracts with a value of 485 million VND.

"This will be an ideal trade rendezvous point, strengthening business connections with consumers and, at the same time, contributing to agricultural development associated with the strengths of key agricultural products, VietGAP and OCOP products of localities," Mr. Hiep expected.

In the framework of this fair and exhibition, there are a total of 200 booths in 169 units of Ho Chi Minh City and 27 provinces and cities with seafood products, seafood processed products, livestock processed products: meat, eggs, milk, agricultural products (seafood), processed poultry meat, pre-processed vegetables, dried, canned fruits, etc.; OCOP products; typical products of localities and traditional craft villages; household products, handicrafts processed from wood, bamboo, nua, etc.

"This will be a bridge between the state, farmers, and consumers in the agricultural sector. This fair and exhibition have practical significance in the implementation of agreements on socio-economic development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in regions across the country towards the goal of building civilized farmers—modern eco-agriculture—in rural areas.

At the same time, strengthening connections with consumers, bringing quality products and appropriate prices, thereby creating a stable supply chain for goods circulation, meeting market tastes and needs, contributing to promoting economic and social development between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in general and the agricultural industry in particular, and affirming Ho Chi Minh City's role as an effective bridge and an important trade promotion channel in the agricultural sector of regions in the country, "said Mr. Dinh Minh Hiep.

According to Mr. Hiep, in the coming time, the city's agricultural sector will continue to coordinate with localities, especially urban districts, to organize more trade promotion activities so that agricultural products, OCOP products, and technological products for the agricultural sector are increasingly developed.
